FUNiX JAPAN ORGANIZES EVENT SERIES FOR JAPANESE TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS
More than 100 students from 10 universities in Japan participated in the “Industry Lecture” program organized by FUNiX Japan on May 25, 2021 which featured Mr. Le Viet Gia Khanh – Developer Advocate from Google Japan.

On discussing Artificial Intelligence (AI), speaker Khanh introduced to the audience case studies of Google’s research into Edge AI and its application to real-world products such as flat unlocking, changing background images in meetings, cleaning robots, voice recognition and speech-to-text tool…The case studies were easy to understand and showed how AI is applied in people’s lives.
Not only introducing case studies of AI, Khanh shared his own career story coming from a Physics background, Khanh self-studied, established his career in the world of technology, and became an Engineer at Google, which inspired the audience. “I think there are jobs that will disappear, along with many new jobs. In order to keep up with the world’s development, students need to self-learn new skills, which are extremely beneficial to their careers,” said Mr. Le Viet Gia Khanh at the event.

Answering students’ questions about whether it would be possible to change majors to AI while studying electronics, Mr. Khanh affirmed that if the student studied seriously, he could. He also gave advice on actively learning online and updating new knowledge in English, taking advantage of open learning resources available online.

Industry Lecture is FUNiX Japan’s major event series this summer, organized for Japanese technology students and open to audiences interested in new technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Data Science, Blockchain. The program is organized as lectures in which speakers who are experts from the field share their knowledge and inspirational career stories with the audience. The Industry Lecture series focuses on providing knowledge and information on how new technologies are applied in the real world nowadays. At the same time, the event series connects Japanese students in general and FUNiX learners in particular with leading technology experts. The series of events is expected to be held every 2 weeks from May to July 2021. The program is accompanied by the Global Technology Initiatives (GTI Consortium) and FPT Japan.
