Interview with Mrs. Emi

We had an interview with Mrs. Emi, who works as an intern of FUNiX, on August 27, 2021. She is a junior in English literature at Hosei University. We asked her some questions about the intern experiences in FUNiX.
1. Why did you decided to intern at FUNiX?
I got some information about the internship program from the school. From before, I wanted to work on the international stage in the future. The internship at FUNiX was attractive because it was a foreign company and a long-term program, unlike the other internship programs. I also wanted to test how much I could use my abilities. Now that I am a junior student, I will start job hunting next year. And I thought this will be a great opportunity to find out what kind of field that I suit for. So I decided to work as an intern at FUNiX.
2. Did you face any difficulties doing interns? How did you overcome it?
Well, I can not think of specific difficulties. Oh, one thing that I was concerned about was the texting. Because the internship was conducted online, using a messenger was the way to communicate. Because most of the conversation was in the text, I thought the context became shorter and does not include emotions. Moreover, I could not use emojis frequently because I thought it was quite unpolite. (laugh) So communicating with others politely and smoothly was a challenge.
To overcome this problem, I talked with my supervisor. I’ve asked her about the context of the message before I send it. Also, when we had a face-to-face meeting, I tried to ask questions and solve the problems at that time.
3. As a result of your internship, what did you feel and learn?
I believe that I got the thing that I desired from this internship. I recognized my strength and weakness. Also, I get to know my improvement points for my future career. For example, when I was doing the MC of the x-talk, having background knowledge about the topic was important to lead the talk show easily. So I thought that I need to do enough studying about the industry for better understanding.
Besides, I learned the business manners and communication methods in a real company. Also, I learned the technique to work effectively at home. (laugh) The whole internship program was a great opportunity to improve myself for my future.
