Professor Thuong Hoang – first speaker of FUNiX Global Talk
Thuong Hoang is currently an Associate Professor in Emerging Technologies at Deakin University, Australia, and an Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) 2020 recipient.
“Ever since I started working on Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality while studying for PHD back in 2010, I found myself interested in researching about leading-edge technologies”.
Assoc.Prof Thuong Hoang shared with FUNiX
His research expertise focuses on designing, implementing, and evaluating interactive systems that leverage emerging virtual and augmented reality infrastructures and technologies. It includes a patented ultrasonic glove device supporting intuitive 3D modeling for outdoor augmented reality. In his work, he often applies human factors, user experience, and interaction design principles to produce engaging, interactive, and novel experiences, especially in the area of public spaces, exhibitions, education, and health.
He has previously collaborated with the Science Gallery Melbourne, National Gallery Victoria, Channel 11, the Royal Children Hospital, and has participated in events as part of Melbourne Knowledge Week and SummerSalt festival.
